Maternity Love

Pregnant.

Hey, I’ve been there, 3 times!

But I’m going to be 100% real here. I loved being pregnant! The stage in ones life where you can see your body change in a mater of weeks and grow a human inside of our body! It’s amazing, isn’t it? I wish I would’ve had the opportunity to had my three pregnancies documented in photos. First of all, I never saw it as something I would someday wish I did. The fact that I have probably somewhere a cell phone picture of either one of y pregnancies and I can’t blow it up and have it up in a frame in my home breaks my heart. This is why I would love to encourage any woman who is expecting their first, second, third, fourth or whatever number of child is on the way to document it! Each pregnancy is different, your age is different, the sex of the baby is different.

One day you will one day find yourself sentimental and want to go through photos and memories about your baby’s pregnancy; so why not have a maternity session? I recommend that you plan a maternity session somewhere in between 30-37 weeks pregnant, because you know, babies are unpredictable and come they are ready to join the world.

Having a session like this doesn’t have to be a great deal expensive. And I am here to hopefully help you get some inspiration.

Cake: This is a cookie cake, you can DIY it, by baking some ready to bake batter and make some big cookies and use buttercream as filling. Find a cute little sign to put on the top and Voila!

Dress: These dresses are not maternity dresses, they are normal dresses that have lots of flow and room in the front. So look for something like this to buy online, like amazon, lulus, forever 21, pink blush maternity. Or if you can even borrow one from a friend even better.

Flowers: The florist I collaborated for this particular shoot had lots of silks, she incorporated them in the bouquet, and the flowers in the background and all silk. So I set my backdrop stand and bent the silks over it, creating a beautiful and delicate garden. If you can hire florist to make you a crow, bouquet, extra flowers for the cake and some backdrop flowers and decorate for you then yay! Perhaps even ask if you can rent some silks. If not, places like Michaels have silk flowers and greenery that are great quality and look for YouTube tutorials to make your own bouquet.

Location: Rent a studio! The nice thing about having a session like this in a studio is that the images are clean, timeless and most importantly, you stand out and all the items you want to have in your photos are visible. But you don’t have to limit your session indoor, outdoor maternity sessions are amazing as well.

Photographer: This a time in your life that won’t last forever, so consider investing in a professional. Their experience and knowledge is something that comes in handy when it comes to moments like this. Ask for recommendations in your area for photographers. I suggest you base your choice based in their style and not their price. Because these are memories that you want to last a lifetime. Trust your photographer, they know what angles flatters you best, and will make you feel beautiful and empowered, so that you can look back at this day with love and full gratefulness that you did this.

The Night Before: Make sure to get plenty of rest and hydrate the day before and the day of session, so you can glow and look fresh.

Enjoy! Hug your baby belly, embrace it, like I said before, your not going to be pregnant forever, so show off your bump.
